The following rules are to be learned by all students and should be adhered to at all times
You must bow when entering or leaving the dojo or when you see the Sensei (instructor), this shows respect to your Sensei, and Dojo (club). This is part of a Senpai Kohai Relationship which will train the student to respect others.
Always be on time for training as arriving late is a disruption to the class and shows disrespect to the club, the teacher and your fellow students. We do understand however that some emergency situations can occur, so if you know that you are going to be late, please let the instructor know in advance.
When arriving to the dojo after the class has begun, you must enter the club quietly and kneel down at the side of the hall until the teacher invites you to join the rest of the students. Once you are invited to join the class you bow and walk around the back of the class and fall into line.
As training is for 1 hour, twice a week, it is important to try and attend both classes. Karate-Do training is very difficult and complex to learn and missing classes can cause a student to fall behind the rest of the class and to struggle.
We do understand that students will have to miss some training due to emergencies, vacations etc so it is important that if you are going to be missing from training to let the instructor know in advance, so he can make arrangements to help the student catch up when he or she returns to class.
As there may be some techniques that you will have to practice with a partner, Please keep your finger nails and toe nails very short as they can cause injury to you or your partner, and as nails trap dirt under them this can also be a source of infection if an injury occurs. Jewellery, for the same reasons are also not allowed at any time in training.
